Top 4 Free Producer Plugins

Plugins can be very expensive. If you're just starting out producing and trying to get a hang of things, it may not be best to buy plugin after plugin. You may find out down the line that there is a free plugin that does the same thing. Today we are going to take a look at 4 free plugins that can help you improve your productions, without spending money.

This one is a major game-changer. While I mostly use the one for guitars and keys, they have several other free plugins which are available. It’s a great way to get a more organic warmth feel to your productions. I especially use it when making lo-fi to get that crispy feeling. With some nice processing, you can almost get a realistic-sounding guitar as well which is a very good solution if you don’t have Kontakt.

This is actually one of the first free plugins I got when I started producing and I still use it to this day. It’s a chorus expander that has extended delay times. I actually started off by using it in buildups to create tension. As always, high-quality stuff from XFER Records! Put it on some strings and watch them widen around your sound spectrum.

Okay so this one you might already know if you have been producing for a while but if you're just starting out I highly recommend grabbing it. A heavy multiband upwards and downwards compressor tool. I personally use it in literally all of my productions since I got it and I think I’m not the only one! Once again high-quality stuff from XFER Records and it’s completely free so make sure to go and grab it. If you use Ableton, no need to download it because it comes as a stock plugin :)

This plugin is best used on your Master to measure the loudness of your track in LUFS. It also helps with analyzingTrue Peak units, Spectrum, and Vectorscope. It is also great for referencing professional tracks. Pop it on your favorite artist's track to see how loud their track is. If it is hitting -6.0 LUFS, now, you know what LUFS your track should be at.
